We are able to offer high-quality professional psychological therapy services for children, teenagers, adults, couples and families, using a wide range of modern and evidence-based therapeutic tools and methods.
In most cases the client and the psychologist will see each other for several 1-hour sessions spread out over weeks or months depending on the circumstances. For some presenting issues the client will need more sessions, for others less. Your psychologist will discuss this with you over time.
Our practice is fully equipped with professional and private rooms, and is conveniently located in the buzzing East Victoria Park shopping strip.
For your convenience we also offer sessions via phone or video-call for those times you can't make it in to see your psychologist.
Therapeutic tools and methods
Our psychologists have significant experience in the use of various tools and methodologies to hep you or your loved ones succeed on their mental health journey. These include:
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
- Schema Therapy
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
- Play Therapy
- EMDR trauma therapy
- Anxiety management training
- Interpersonal Therapy
- Parenting skills training.
Your psychologist may use some of these when working with you, or you can request the use of particular therapies or approaches if you know what works for you.
Fees and pricing
You can make an appointment and come to see us without a referral from a GP at any time.
To access Medicare rebates for your therapy sessions, you will need to get a Mental Health Care Plan and referral from your GP to Equality Psychology beforehand.
At present, Medicare will provide a rebate for 10 sessions per calendar year off the cost of the session.
You may also use your private health cover if eligible. For private health rebates, you will need to pay the session fee, and then apply to your health fund for the rebate (all funds are different so the level of rebate will differ).
Our fees are as follows for self-referred, private health and Medicare clients:
- Registered psychologist: $180 per session (with Medicare rebate applied, the gap fee is $83.35 per session)
- Clinical psychologist: $230 per session (with Medicare rebate applied, the gap fee is $88.15 per session).
All fees are to be paid on the day unless other arrangements have been agreed. Medicare rebates are processed and paid on the spot for your convenience.
